Persevere Outreach Ministries, established was in 2022 out of a deep calling to serve the most overlooked members of our communities: senior citizens. After years of volunteering with older adults, our founders recognized a troubling pattern—many seniors were not only struggling with physical needs but also suffering from loneliness, neglect, and a sense of invisibility. Too often, seniors who had once poured into families, neighborhoods, and workplaces were left without adequate support in their later years. What began as a small volunteer effort quickly grew into a nonprofit mission. Our first initiative was a pen pal program connecting elementary school children with seniors who lived alone or in nursing homes. These handwritten letters and drawings brought joy, comfort, and companionship to seniors who felt forgotten. From this foundation of care and connection, our purpose began to expand and take root in the community. Mission & Core Purpose Our purpose is simple yet vital: to ensure that seniors know they are valued, supported, and never forgotten. We are committed to addressing the gaps that traditional agencies and programs cannot fill, providing both essential resources and emotional support We believe that aging should not strip away dignity, independence, or belonging. Programs & Services To carry out this purpose, Persevere Outreach Ministries provides a variety of free services designed to meet both physical and emotional needs • Intergenerational Connections – Our pen pal program continues to thrive, fostering meaningful relationships between schoolchildren and seniors. These exchanges reduce loneliness among older adults while teaching young people the value of empathy and respect for elders. • Care Packages & Events – We deliver personalized care packages filled with essentials and small tokens of kindness. We also sponsor ice cream socials, holiday celebrations, and other special events at nursing homes to remind seniors that they are loved and celebrated. • Supply Distribution – A storage unit is maintained with everyday essentials for seniors who cannot afford them. From toiletries to blankets and small household goods, these supplies help seniors meet basic needs with dignity. • Crisis & Emergency Support – We often receive calls for urgent needs such as medical co-pays, food, clothing, or even emergency home repairs. For example, when a senior’s ceiling collapsed and threatened to suspend her healthcare services, we stepped in to ensure her home was safe and her care continued. • Companionship Call Center – Our call center allows seniors to reach out when they feel lonely or isolated. A warm voice on the other end of the line can make all the difference in easing anxiety, providing reassurance, and reminding them they are not alone. Community Partnerships – We work with nursing homes, healthcare agencies, schools, and local organizations to maximize resources and extend our reach. By collaborating, we ensure seniors receive well-rounded support. Community Need The need for our work is great. Seniors make up one of the fastest-growing populations in the United States, yet many face isolation, fixed incomes, and barriers to accessing assistance. According to national data, more than one in four seniors live alone, and many report feelings of loneliness, which has been linked to poor health outcomes and reduced life expectancy. Additionally, seniors living on limited incomes often struggle to afford essentials such as medications, housing repairs, and basic household goods. While government and social service agencies provide some support, many seniors fall through the cracks, unable to qualify for programs or waiting too long for help. This is where Persevere Outreach Ministries steps in. Our purpose is to stand in the gap—meeting needs quickly, compassionately, and without cost to the senior. Impact Stories • A Home Saved: When a disabled older woman faced losing her home care services because of a damaged ceiling she could not afford to repair, our organization stepped in to help. By addressing the repair, we ensured her care services continued without interruption, protecting both her health and her independence . • Loneliness Lifted: One nursing home resident told us that our monthly care packages and letters were “the only mail I get, the only reminder that someone out there still thinks of me.” These stories are just a glimpse of our purpose in action: bringing hope, relief, and connection to those who need it most. Vision for the Future Our purpose does not end with the programs we currently offer. We are committed to expanding our reach so that no senior in our community feels unseen or unsupported. Future goals include . • Expanding our call center into a 24-hour hotline. • Creating more intergenerational programs that unite youth and elders. • Increasing partnerships to cover medical and housing needs that fall outside traditional services.
